We planned to fish the area where reports had pinned the fish at sunrise on the previous few days. Well, sunrise is about 0530, so lines off around 04sumthing loaded up with all the necessities including Cooch and Tombo.
Got to the spot, it was pretty light already, and one other Newmoonatic was already setup. No worries, plently of room. Got everything workin' and BAM! bluefish. Couple more; had the Boneyard rockin', no stripes.
Stuck around for awhile relaxin, nothing but Bluefish. Lost the tide and went on the troll, the Manasquan rig was producing, but only more demons. We heard the fleet was scattering to avoid the Uboat attack, but wound up near The Rip anyways as the tide began ebbing. Switched to a few fluka drifts had out killies, Gulp, Bluefish strips, bucktails, only a large mud crab to show for it.
Realized we were baking all too late to slather up the sunscreen and head in about 1030, empty fishbox but miles of smiles. Thanks Guys, good trip. Try again Weds. nite?
