I met Scott G,Jersey Joe,Massbaster Steve, and Cashin at the Marina in Keyport at 5:15pm. As we pulled out into the bay "low tide" I noticed thick fog in the distance and a heavy chop produced by S.East winds "non of this was in the forecast"
. It was hard to see any Bunker pods around with the fog and rough seas so over to Great Kills we went to fill up the livewell with Bait. Snagging them was producing them but a friendly fisherman in his boat offered us a bucketful of bait that he just netted
..THANKYOU!!
The sun broke through and started to clear up the fog and the wind was slowing down too
. We made had a few run offs while drifting the Old Orchard area but marks were scarce. I ran over towards Belford and drifted live ones and we had a bunch of our baits bit in half and also lost a big blue at the boat that bit through the fluorocarbon by the hook.
At the next stop back by Old Orchard I saw some marks but nothing spectacular so we anchored up to start a slick and chunk and liveline. Steve had a few runoffs on just Bunker head and then landed a 12 lb blue. So no Stripers took our offerings and the weather and fog told me not to make the long run around the hook and down south. At 10:30 pm the water flattened up nice and the sky cleared for a pleasant ride back to the marina. Good luck
