Saturday Seabassing on the Wreckfish
« on: May 27, 2012, 08:30:25 AM »
Turned right once we broke the inlet –winds where a light SW 5, swells a small 3 ft from the south.   With the winds so light we decide we there was no need to anchor and our first snag was loaded with biscusts.   We just keep drifting differ angles on this small piece for about 2 hours until we didn’t seems to be getting any more keepers.  Hit another snag a little further south and it was also loaded.  Spent another two hours there and then we went a little further south to our final snag but by now wind started to pick 15 ~ 20 and dead south.  It was too fast to drift this piece so by some miracle I was able to anchor on this spot on the first shot - the crew was very happy we didn’t have to re-pull and reset the anchor again. They do complain a lot! :headscra: On anchor the Begals had a heyday but we still picked keepers by moving around on anchor.  At two we called it a day.  We caught approx 1750 to 200 biscuits + one large ling with enough keepers mixed to so everyone had a nice bag of fillets at the end of the day.  We tried to bucktail a few fluke in the river on the way in but no bites.  Hi-Lo rig 3/0 bait holder hooks, salted clams.  I didn’t think the ghost shrimp made a big difference.  In fact Chartreuse Gulp 3” minnows work betters.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
