WOW! What a perfect day. A 10 in anyones book. Picture perfect weather. Great company and lock/load fishing. It does'nt get any better than this!!!
Called Sis on Wed to see if she was up for a Friday excursion. Without hesitation she jumped on this like a labrador would retrieve a wounded duck. We load up Z'O at 6:45 after looking for the spearing in the marina that did'nt show face this morning. A pint of quality size Minkos' would have to do. An asian squid side order complemented the dining experience.
We made a no wake move through Shrewsbury and out SH Bay to find the Frigin bunker seiners strip mining that precious resource right in front of the Ammo pier. Jeez, this just ain't right
I know there's been plenty of bait throughout but seems absolutely unconscionable that Omega gets a free pass right in our back yard. Three cranes and two net boats corralling everything they can get their paws on
Now the good stuff.... plan was to head to the back of the bay. Which we did... first stop a few scattered pods getting harrassed. Hopes that a striped one would be lurking...Not.... 6-8 lb blues make for a fun time (and great strip bait
with birds banging the surface. Perfect picture # 1 ..
Lipped a two of these on paddle shads and iced 'em.
Checked out 11A for the flundies went 1 for 3 on the keeps.... very slow here. Tide still shifting gears. 19 can slow also. 1 short. then the dreaded 10 O'clock conference call..... 45 min later were back on track to our destination.
Perfect picture #2..... finally found a body of fish that would not let up. Gail and I bailed them on every drift putting our limit together early with all quality fish 18-21 inch average. A handful of just short. Sis smacks her big one for the day a nice 23" almost 5lb fish. This lasted for almost 2.5hrs. Ended up with 28 fish keeping our limit and tossing back 22"ers.
Pinch me please! Pulled the pin a 1:15 as wind pickup and outgoing took over with a hard current.
Hope this is the beginning of good things to come. Get out there and catch 'em up.
