Broke the inlet with friend Joe at about 0800. Found the bunker pods right outside and went into snag mode filling up the well in no time. Although there weren't any great marks near the pods and they weren't super excited we tried live linning for a little bit before moving to the north. Headed north to find a huge fleet of boats and more bunker than you could shake a stick at off of the Asbury Convention Center. Tried there and no luck. Just a bluefish hit.
Move further offshore and North and eventually making it to the Rocks. Anchored up for a little bit and tried live linning near some structure. We had a few bluefish bites and I managed to pick up a sea bass that ate 1/4 of a bunker on a circle hook! While living linning dropped a bottom rig and caught a few more sea bass for fun.
Moved SE with the fleet and managed to pull in a few blued to 18#. With no bass and now a SE wind and chop we headed back. Stopping here and there at some bunker pods with no luck with the stripers. At one spot the bunker were so thick you could've walked across them!
It was a great day on the water.....
