Had Jared Okerson charter the boat today with buddy's Dave Jr. and Sr.
Ran around a lot more today, only to find things were SLOWER today then yesterday, although as Bobber said, the water clarity was improved however the residual effect from the storm on the bottom was still apparent.
Started out on a lump about 7 miles off, doggies, skates, birds (
), and about 5 short fluke came up. We then made a move to the SG Reef and fished some nasty stuff on the N side, and picked a few more shorts, some tiny seabass, and 1 keeper fluke. By that point we had no wind, and the current that we had offshore petered out a bit -- so the drift was very slow.
Made a move to another piece on the reef, caught squat. Then ran further south, changed rigs over to seabassin' rigs, and hit some rubble on the AC reef, and had a slow but steady bite at first with some nice keeper seabass, but that quickly dried up, so we ran to a big, high profile wreck and we had lock and load seabass fishing for about an hour, MANY shorts coming up but we did pull some keepers as we wiggled around the spot.
Called it a day at 2, and heard a few boats were getting into a bit of an improvement in the fluke bite to our North. We'll save that for tomorrow!
Slow day today, real tough go of it. That blow really did a number on the bottom, however with more stable weather predicted for this week things should quickly start improving!
