FB- Sat. 6/23 Flukes and C-Bass
« on: June 24, 2012, 11:06:08 PM »
Got Fluka's lines off and headed out of Keansburg at 0630 with 1st string Flukers, Dibbs and Dougger aboard.. Headed straight outside to fish the same the rough 40-50' bottoms  we worked my last time out a couple weeks ago,  and set up our 1st drift a little after 7am.. Right off the start the bites came at a brisk pace as Fluke and C-bisquits started coming over the gunwales.. The steady N/NW breeze gave us a decent drift all day and we picked at fish almost constantly thru the day.. as Dibbs described it, just simply stupid fluking... they seemed to want to eat anything we threw at them..I worked a jig/teaser mostly .. they where really hammering a 6" chart. Gulp on a  jighead trailed by a 4" gulp teaser.. But spearing/squid, Peruvians, and various strip baits all produced well.. We picked through countless shorts, and worked hard till about 4 o'clock before we all finally had our limit of Fluke.. and about 13-14 nice C-basses in the box.. We spent another hour using up what little bait we had left playing C&R, turning loose a few more keepers, before heading  back to the barn at about 5pm.. Dibbs had the pool for both Fluke and C- bass with a fat 5# flattie and a knuckleheaded donkey of a C-bass that taped 23"..Between the spectacular weather, fine company, and torrid bite, it was surely a day to remember  t^  chrz  chrz

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Nice haul. Just realized my dad has been in the same marina for over 10 years now in dry rack and we pass by the Fluka every time. Gonna try and mirror your report tomorrow.
