Chance of Severe Weather Monday June 25, 2012
« on: June 25, 2012, 12:14:17 AM »
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a SLIGHT Risk for severe weather tomorrow morning into the afternoon, evening and possibly even the night hours.  The SPC gives Eastern NJ a 15% chance of severe weather and the rest of NJ a 5% chance.

As the front pushes through storms could become severe with the biggest threat being high winds and hail.  Storms will be scattered and and could fire rapidly and quickly intensify forming clusters of strong, organized storms that will move southeastward.  Whether severe or strong, this could certainly become a day long event.

Make sure you keep an ear to a radio and an eye to the sky!

The Storm Prediction Center has canceled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for NJ, PA, NY, and CT.  Although the sun is out and it is clear right now, the front has not made it through the area yet and there is still a chance of scattered shower and thunderstorms through the night.  There may even be a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms, especially with the sun out causing more daytime heating.  Do not be surprised if you see a new Severe  Thunderstorm Watch for later htis afternoon into the evening.  Small Craft Advisories and Special Marine Warnings are still in affect for the adjacent coastal and inshore waters.
