WreckFish Thursday July 5 Report
« on: July 06, 2012, 11:59:41 AM »
My buddy Bob and I ran out to the east side of the Sea Grit reef.   Hardly any drift.  Caught shorts and skates. Ran to the Klondike again minimal drift with short and skates.  Next we bucktailed in some rough stuff and I ended up with 3 keeper fluke, 18.5 20.5 and 22 + one keeper seabass.  It was hot, hot and hotter.  Out again on Sunday

Good luck Phil. I may be out on the reef Sunday too. Thinking about fluking and chumming for some of those threshers that might be lurking on the bottom near the rubble piles.

Nice trip Phil. That heat is terrible. And not much wind to cool it down much on the water.  :P

Remember wind chill factors?  Ah, I miss those days. ;D

Yes indeed it was hot out there today.  I was spraying myself with the washdown to cool off. Saw a bunch of guys taking a dip out at the mud bouy today.  Those clams you shucked for me back in the spring saved the day for me today with the biscuits!   Good luck Sunday, I may give it a shot then too.

At least 3 in the box, always better than nothing. Work & heat is keeping me off the water.

Nice report Phil.  You are getting better at this fluke fishing.  t^ I think I see a true "doormat" in your future.

Good luck on Sunday.  It is suppose to cool off a little by then. I am going to fish a NS out of AH for the flatties and maybe rob a house.(hint)  Fortunately, not the same one that Paule fished on yesterday.  thud

NJBOB a 450 halibut is a rare thing today in Alaska. Most are under a 100 pounds or much less. Plus the limits can go from 1 - 3 and in the same week. A little known fact published when one Books a Big money trip to Alaska to fish. Plane-lodging-food-licences-travel-guides-trinkets-Not to be left out the shipping costs of the catch home. It aint cheap no More cfzd    Threw out the state  Salmon are regulated and limits set Daily you have to stay informed.
for example you may wind up with 1 halibut 2 reds 1 silver a day And it only cost you $3.500.00 for the trip,  No Excuses Bill
