LBI Surf report 7/15
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:27:01 PM »
(Surf City)Had a great morning in the foam, Kingfish were everywhere if you could get thru the Spots......Started about 5am and left the beach around 9am. For a time every other cast was a king.....dozen or so over 12" Largest was 15" (pass the french fries  TT^)  The spots were all small, and alot of double hook ups.  Fishbites ruled the morning for the kings, followed by clams.

Going out tommorow morning for kings, and hoping for some Brown Shark action tommorow evening.

Havent tried for fluke yet, but going to head down to the surf in Beach Haven later this week, sounds like the fluke bite down there is hot and heavy....Spoke to a gent at the bait shop that had  3 keepers (largest was 21")on top of a bunch of shorts and some Kings.

**<Proud Dad Alert>  On a side note, i was   outfished by my 12yrold daughter, she had 7 keepers to my 5  Way to go Maddie!!!!

Great catches!  Thanks for the report.  Nice to hear of kingfish already.  It is definitely great to be out fished by your kids...means you taught them well ;D!

7/16  Surf City

Another great morning in the surf. About 30 kingfish with 7 keepers. Couple of double hookups. Spots were no where to be found ( i think we caught 1) I was once again resoundly outfished...this time by my 12yrold son Jay. (I have boy/girl twins.) The girl caught 2 keepers, the boy 4 and me 1........Im starting to see a pattern of being outfished by my children.  thud.  Oh well, bait boy is a good trade for me.....They yank them in, and ill rebait the hooks. Rinse....Repeat

Biggest was 15" the rest were a mixed bag of 12" to 14". Ton of them were under 12 but still 10 to 11 inches. None under 10".

Fishbites were again the bait of the morning, with all the fish coming on them.

Nice going.  My father has been doing well with the kings down in Ship Bottom as well.   t^  Good luck with the browns.  I hope to get out midweek and try my luck on the toothy beasts.
