Had my uncle out for a catch what we can trip knowing that Stripers aren't around in any numbers. Fueled up at 9am and headed towards the hook. Came across a huge group of birds working the surface. Threw some poppers and swimbaits at the school for nada. Had a couple swipes at the popper but no takers. (seeing from other reports they were small cocktail blues). Picked up and head out towards scotland light. Did a few drifts over a piece and had action immediately. Anchored up and it was on. Had fish ever drop, caught my first norther puffer. My uncle caught a very nice Seabass. Tons of short Porgy and seabass. Ended up with 3 keeper bass and 2 puffers. Had some weather coming our way so we picked up and ran inside the hook just in time for it to kick up. First time I had the pulpit dip under with nice tight 3' pushing through. Waited it out and switch rigs to try for weakies. Headed over off the ammo pier and drifted sandworms. Caught a real small fluke and a spot. My uncle caught the first weakfish from my boat, but it was only 12" Good to see they are around. Livelined the spot while drifting and didn't get a touch on it. After listening to Jets suck it up we called it a day. Great day on the ocean. Boats in till 31st, but I don't know if I'll make it out again due to Archery and Duck hunting. If so it was a good last trip.
