Fort Lauderdale Happy Day Today

Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Born to fish, forced to work - Dave Derkatch and friend Steve from Canada were here in Fort Lauderdale FL vacationing.  Steve showed me pictures of the Salmon he catches from a stream running threw his property and Dave showed me a picture of the 48” Pike he caught back home – obviously, neither of them are amateur anglers.

Dave and Steve chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea fishing Fort Lauderdale.  With overcast this morning, winds out of the east at 10-12 mph, temperatures in the mid 80’s, we left the dock and 20 minutes later lines were in the water as I approached one of our artificial wrecks in Fort Lauderdale FL.  As we trolled around, both anglers took pictures of each other as they brought in their catch.

After catching 6 Kingfish, 6 Bonitos, and 3 Barracudas, a rip was forming, which was a perfect place to do some live baiting from the kites, a new experience for these seasoned anglers.  We put two kites out and four live Mullets as baits splashing on the surface attracting any predators swimming by on the rip.  Almost immediately a dorsal fin appeared belonging to a Hammerhead Shark on the left long kite.  The Shark chased the live bait around vigorously, splashing water up in an attempt to eat the Mullet.  He finally grabbed the bait and off he went.  After bringing in the rest of the tackle, we started to back down on the Shark to retrieve some line.  His tail rubbed the fishing line and in a split second, the line went slack – the Shark got away.  We went back and set up again on the rip, this time a Mahi Mahi appeared on the right short – Dave was the angler on this one and he brought the Mahi Mahi to the side of the boat – a great fish to eat for dinner that night.

With a couple of other chop offs and another Kingfish added to the box, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!
