Scott G, Jersey Joe and I Started trolling the reach by the 18 Bouy with an umbrella niners rig and a tube umbrella rig. The water was 59 degrees and flat with low wind and rain storms were heading in from the south west but they were west of us. After trolling about a half an hour with no hits and getting rained on for ten minutes we made a move to the Sandy Hook rip to drift eels. I made several
drifts from the beach and drifted east across the rip and to the channel, each drift we head further north to cover different structure. On the last drift we reached the candlesticks without a hit. The sky got very clear and the wind was gone. We moved back into the Raritan Bay to hit 2 more spots before calling it quits at 10pm. The cleanup was quick at the marina with no fish and blood on the deck. You have to be in it to win it, not home on the couch..
Good luck,, Eddie
