The first weekend of the year will be mostly dry with more sun than clouds.  Saturday Night, Sunday Morning and Sunday Night could bring some scattered snow flurries to north and western areas of NJ and neighboring PA.  High temperatures will even creep up into the 40's during the day with overnight lows down into the mid 20's.  Water conditions for most inshore to midshore locations are rated good all weekend, however, there may be residual gusty winds over 25 knots into Saturday Morning extending Small Craft Advisories.  Midshore to offshore locations are rated cautious with Small Craft Advisories on Saturday with winds over 25 knots and seas to 6 feet Saturday Morning then diminishing in the afternoon, however, still cautious.  Sunday water conditions are rated good.  Surf conditions on Saturday Morning could be moderate to rough with 2-4 foot waves with gusty winds from the WNW up to 25 knots.  Winds and seas will subside throughout Saturday and be back to normal on Sunday with wave heights at 0-2 and 1-2 feet.

High pressure will build to the south of our region on Saturday.  On Sunday, an area of low pressure will move toward the area bringing a weak cold front.
