Main line to a 3 way swivel. Start with 36" 20 lb fluro leader to a 3/0 Gami baitholder hook. Start with an 24" dropper to your weight and go from there.  Shorten the the leader to the weight and see what results you get. Sometime they want it high off the bottom other times tight.  You need to experiment and see what works.

Of course at times they'll hit anything.\

This works in the Raritan, those Barney Bay boys have a whole other setup with grass shrimp  :o

I have found that a 8-10" dropper and a 25-30"leader works best..........have also had good success using a plain ol double or tripple hook sea bass rig TT^

Only thing I'll change is using a 2/0 Gami baitholder most of the time but 3/0 works too.

This rig works equally as well with peanuts and sandworms. You can also substitute a floating jighead when using sandworms in place of the Gami baitholder hook.

I agree depends on all the usual factors. I usually set up a few different length droppers in advance so it's easy to move the sweet spot- use a loop and it's a quickchange
