EARTH DAY IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER...
What are YOU doing to celebrate Environmental Education Week, Earth Day and Earth Week?
We'd like to know and help promote your efforts!
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has administered the Earth Day NJ website for over ten years and the site attracts over 40,000 visitors in April-May, each year.
The website is promoted to and used by media, volunteers and volunteer groups, scouts, youth groups, schools, companies, municipal leaders, families and individuals. DEP also uses the information at the website to determine the participation of our speakers and displays and the distribution of our public education information.
One purpose of the site is to showcase the diverse lessons, programs and projects that NJ students and groups are doing in classrooms and communities statewide during Environmental Education Week (April 14 - 20) and Earth Week (April 21 - 27). To submit information about your environmental education activities during this timeframe go to
www.nj.gov/dep/seeds/earthday/calsub.htm#eew and we'll post your information online.
The other purpose of the site is to promote New Jersey's Earth Day and green community festivals that occur on or around Earth Day (April 22). These celebrations are usually held on the weekends and are open to the public. To submit details about your public environmental event (to be held in April or May) go to
www.nj.gov/dep/seeds/earthday/calsub.htm#cal and we'll add your event information to our calendar listing.
