Storage tubes or pouches for Umbrella rigs????
« on: September 24, 2007, 10:52:28 AM »
Now that I have almost everything I need to make my oqwn rigs, what do you guys use to store them in to keep them nice and neat.

I know my father has commercialy made ones that came in a large diameter, clear plastic tube with caps on both ends.

The only tubes I found similar on ebay were small 2" in diameter, not really big enough.

What do you guys use that is CHEAP and effective?

Thanks.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes.  Get the white PVC pipe in whatever size you like. I believe I use the two inch pipe.  Fold the umbrella rig arms to get the length you want your pipes. Cut the pipe to length so your umbrella arms fit when folded.  No need for end caps because the pressure of the arms will keep them in place.  A ten foot length should be enough for at least four rigs.   t^

Yes it is. The 2" Diameter is enough?

It works for me.   Just bend two arms till they meet enough to put into the pipe.  Don't put a lot of pressure on them, you want them to retain their shape when they are removed.  Slide the rig into the tube bending the remaining two as you get to them.  You can keep the lures (tubes, shads, etc) attached and slide them into the tube as well.  Get to your fishing spot, slide them out, clip them to the leader and you're ready to go.   t^
