The reason I don't kayak in saltwater.......
« on: April 11, 2013, 12:56:14 AM »
I was planning out some fishing spots for the end of the month.  I have to go down to FL so we can have the septic tank replaced.  The past couple days a couple great whites have been spotted and 1 C&R'd.  traded some articles and he sent me this.

That can happen anywhere.  I have fished Oahu and have seen lots of sharks lurking around.  It is like here.  Many people have no idea that there are so many sharks off our beaches and that they are in fact swimming with danger every time they go out especially at dusk and dawn.  Many of us target them at night right off the beaches in NJ.

A friend on mine in San Diego is a free diver and last week he told me while spearfishing he spotted a white tipped shark which is almost unheard of in the cold waters off where he dives.

Times are a changing; this summer should be something to see what different species are caught off our shores.

Happy Catching

Paul

Yea I get that about the swimming. I think we have a few posts on here with the visuals of people swimming and the sharks just 5-10 miles out from them. I think about it everytime I go to the beach or even jump off my boat. I LOVE to swim... love everything about the water really. I mean would I go in if I saw them swimming around or feeding, uhhh no way lol but its the ol saying 'outta site outta mind'. Sorta... lol with me being a fisherman, its always on my mind ;D

To further pinpoint where this took place I heard it was off Waianae just up the shore from where we stayed last year (Ko`Olina) off Rt. 93 or better known as Farrington Highway.

yes, he says 8 miles off Waianae.  I don't think I'll be buying a yak while in FL as I was going to. lol.
