Bad timing is all I can say. Jersey Joe and I had a small window of time to get in some fishing. I talked to a few sources and new the morning bite was great on the fast moving outgoing tide. Unfortunately we were heading out of Keyport at 2pm towards the bottom of the outgoing tide and only had a few hours to fish. I know the Stripers turn on in moving water and we had none.
We trolled various lures towards and around the 18 buoy and head over to the 11A. I did not see anyone catching and the radio chatter was pretty quiet too. We pulled up the spread and head down towards the outside of the hook in search of some movement. I trolled around the candlesticks and over towards the fleet in Flynns Noel. Nada. We head back into the bay into 25' of water and even tried 15' of water.
We had to head in around 5:30 and the water finally started moving. A bunch of boats were gathering and clamming by the Keyport buoy 1 and we finally saw some Stripers starting to bite.
I will be out Sunday starting at the top of the outgoing tide.
Good Luck Everyone, Eddie
