FV-Tuna.com Tuna trip in Gloucester Mass.
« on: April 22, 2013, 08:11:33 PM »
I have reserved a date for a tuna trip on FV-Tuna.com for Monday June 16 2014(yes, right year) Trips are truly booked that far out. I currently have 2 spots filled, looking to go to 6 anglers total. Trip is %1600, $450/angler. Deposit will be due by Spring, giving ample time to save up. Putting it out there now for anyone who wants to join in for the chance to tangle with some Bluefin beasts off of Gloucester Mass. Names taken on first come/first serve basis.

Whats the boat rules regarding catches? Are they fishing out of the commercial season and you get to keep your fish or are they fishing in commercial season and they keep the fish and reimburse the trip the cost of the charter? I am sure they don't split the cost of a fish with the charter.

It's up to the charter to decide.here's Dave's response to me regarding how a charter will work:.

" I offer 1/4 the sale off the top to a max of the charter fee paid. Basically if we catch a good quality fish you get a free trip.

As for catch you can keep one small one under 73" to take home for the table OR 3 giants 73" or greater, however you cannot have a small fish and a giant on the boat in the same trip. It's one or the other.

If you catch a small one early in the day, it's your call if you want to keep or release it. If you keep a small one and later we hook up with a 800 pound fish, that fish would have to be released. It's your charter and I let my charter make that call.

The above scenario has happened before and we have let many giants go and the group had wished they had released the small fish. Tough choice, but it's all yours."

I have never tuna fished before, but am definitely interested. Can send the money any day. Would you think this is newbie friendly? I watch the show and stuff, know it's as serious fishing as you can get.

120 --as long as you are serious about going, you're in. It boils down to you listening to the captain and mate to reel the fish in if you are the number up on the rod when the tuna hits.

The 6 spots for this trip are filled. I have one name down for a back up in the event of  fall out between now and the trip.

put me in the bullpen for this trip
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
