Well, since last Thursday the models have really changed for weather and water conditions. I have not seen a 7 Day Forecast bust like this in a long time. This week will have chances of rain Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the greatest chance on Monday and Monday Night. Thursday and Friday will be dry with mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will be seasonal in the low to mid 60's with overnight lows finally keeping out of the 30's and staying in the 40's for all of the state. Water conditions will be good for northern areas north of BI for the week, however southern areas will have cautious conditions with higher easterly onshore flow and seas with Small Craft Advisories through most of the week, possibly subsiding later into the week. Cape May could see winds pushing 25 knots out of the due east and seas to 7 feet at 7 seconds. Midshore to Offshore will be cautious midweek, Tuesday through Thursday. Water temperatures are holding the same at mid 50's for bays and rivers and ocean waters in the low 50's including midshore locations. Surf conditions will be moderate for most locations in the 2-3 and 3-4 foot wave heights with a brisk predominant east wind. Areas south of BI could see moderate to elevated rough surf conditions with 2-4 and 4-6 foot wave heights.
A look ahead to the weekend for now will have dry conditions, seasonable temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Water conditions look good for all locations at this time.
A large high pressure system will drift slowly northeastward early this week and then remain nearly stationary over the Canadian Maritimes through the middle of the week. A dissipating upper air disturbance will move through our region Monday Night into Tuesday. The high will then slide southwest and re-establish itself over the region late in the week.
