Great catch.  That's one hell of a surf reel. I read that they kayak out to drop the baits in deeper water. That makes sense cause your not  sating very far with that big conventional reel.

yea, there are a lot of guys who do that where I fish down there.  Very few times though I have seem them land the shark.  Usually a bull when they do.

I find it very suspect that they could land a shark that big and of that caliber and could stradle it..... Not doubting the fish is real. Doubting it wasn't released alive or was faked.
