Could not wait to get offshore...our true love...and we picked a very good day.
Fished with Darren and Joe for an offshore sharking trip today. Left SRI at 4:20 am and headed south with not many reports up this way in hopes of finding Mr. Mako.
Got set up in 60.8 clean/green water and at 8:30 am had a pretty good hit. At first the fish did not go nuts...but after five minutes all of a sudden a 200 lb Mako jumps 20 feet in the air! Unreal sight. All of us get a clear view and we knew we had the right one on. Right after another huge leap...
Tough Mako...around, down, left, right, backdown, forward, sideways you name it. One hour later we fly-gaffed a nice Mako. It weighed in at 234 lbs...86" long.
It had two 10 lb bluefish in its stomach (see pic).
Great day with an awesome crew!!
This is the type of trip that keeps us coming back to the game...and it was nice that everything came together.
Back at it asap...
