Foggy Sea Bass Fishing
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:20:15 PM »
Fishing the waters off Point Pleasant Beach NJ can be interesting. Take today for instance. We first had to deal with dense fog most of the morning. Then we faced two different wave actions--waves from the southerly wind that has been blowing regularly and waves from the northeast that also blew all day yesterday. To cap it off, there was a strong current running north to south, requiring a 10 ounce sinker to hold bottom. Our targeted fish was Fluke and we made stops at our favorite locations but found no keepers.  So in order to save the day, we changed our game plan to Sea Bass which turned out to be a great call. We anchored in several places that had previously produced Sea Bass and we caught a few. But not being satisfied, we moved to a new location we haven't fished in the past and it turned out to be a home run. The people aboard caught many large Sea Bass and went home with an abundance of beautiful fillets. Despite the varying weather conditions, our party kept a happy attitude and had a great day aboard Off Duty.
