Fished a NS out of Shark River. First time I ever fished on a 25' Parker. Real nice fishing platform and very comfortable. We left the dock at 5:45 which was great as we fished by ourselves for a few hours before getting mugged later in the morning. Awesome drifting conditions early before the wind died and it got hot fast with very little drift. Final tally was 32 keepers with the biggest being a little over 8 pounds. Had a few 4 to 6's thrown in also. For those that like to count, that was 6 limits and 2 fish for the captain to have for dinner. LOL Thought I had a really nice fluke but it wound up being a doubleheader of 20" fluke. Bucktails tipped with gulp and salmon belly on the teasers was the hot bait. Captain found some small pockets of fish which we were short drifting.
We fished east of the NJ coast in about 70' of water most of the day. Action was very good with a lot of just miss keepers going back to be caught another day. Caught some huge skates, a few sea robins, but no endangered doggies or cow nosed rays. I donated 3 or 4 bucktails, but not bad for the bottom structure we were fishing.
Tight Lines,
