The other thing you want is a sustained weather pattern with no rain preferably.  A little heat wave or indian summer is good too.  cloudy water just makes them scatter or hunker down.  New moon tides forget it too.

Can you say grass shrimp...I have been targeting these guys with grass shrimp flies each year and have been doing pretty good.  I was hoping that by now I would of had a kayak to use in the back of IBSP but that did not happen yet.

I will be targeting them starting next week and see what happens.

I don't fish bait often, but a nice piece of soft shell or sheddar crab fished near a bridge on an outgoing tide can be very effective

try a storm shad peanut bunker with a SLOW retrieve . Give the rod a slight jerk as you retrieve. Weakies are picky eaters and wont take a bait too large. They like to hand around some sort of structure in my opinion.  good luck

When I go crabbing in the fall I use chicken and bunker.  I have caught keeper weakfish on chicken, believe it or not.  Use a freshwater type setup, even a size four hook.  Some of the regulars on the dock have done it with success.

MJ619,

You are on to something there. t^

Using chicken for weakfish is an old trick.  When shedder crabs are hard to find, chicken soaked in shedder oil works almost as well.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
