Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Stephanie Mason grew up here in Fort Lauderdale, FL and moved to Ohio with husband Ted Mason.  They came back to Fort Lauderdale, FL last week for a family get together and chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing.

Winds were out of the east at 7 mph, with the sun playing peek-a-boo with the clouds, temperature in the mid 80’s.  After leaving the dock at Bahia Mar, fifteen minutes later lines were in the water at the drop in 120 ft. of water off of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale.  We started off with two plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip.  For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips with a daisy chain teaser.

The action started off fast – before the 3rd fishing line was in the water, our two plainer rods bent over and two Bonitos were caught and brought in.  From there the action never slowed down.   Jackson, our mate, was working in the cock-pit non-stop, running from one rod to the other.  The family, including daughter, Rebecca Mason, and two friends Josh Riddlespur and Mitchell Kinley, took turns bringing in a total of 23 Bonitos, 3 Kingfish, 2 Barracudas and 1 Mahi Mahi.

With smiles on everyone’s faces, they all retired to the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.  Once at the dock, Jackson filet the fish since Stephanie wanted to take the fish over to the Bahia Cabana Restaurant to be prepared for their diner.
