Reel McCoy II Saturday 11/2/13
« on: November 02, 2013, 02:26:12 PM »
Left the dock about 0730 solo this morning.  I went to check out if outside was fishable and found a mess of birds between the channels.  Started jigging on some nice marks,  fish on right away, fish off halfway up, repeat three times.  Did notice that the guys trolling umbrellas with tubes were doing ok.  Went to get out the trolling gear and I end up smashing my Costas against the cabin door  rgmn.   Not having the wire rods aboard I put an 8oz drail and a green tube on a braid trolling rod and gave it a shot.   Conditions were not ideal for trolling by myself so I went back to jigging.  Swithched to a gold hammered jig and fish on.  I finally put a nice 15lb fish in the boat.  Trolled a bit more without a hit, back to the jigs.  In about 10 mins I hooked and landed a 25lb bass.  Dropped two more and caught and released a 20" fluke on an a27 with a tube.
Saw a lot of familiar boats on the grounds, The Fisherman, Sea Horse, Fish Stix and the Bill Chaser, all seemed to be catching fish.
I was back at the dock at 1130.  Glad I made it out today  ;D

Dan nice going. Doing it solo while working the boat and rods and then switching to jigging is an exciting experience. You say to yourself "ah man this is really relaxing".
Glad to hear you had a good fun day. t^
