The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has partnered with Untamed Science to offer New Jersey teachers and students award-winning black bear education materials on a new bear education website. The site is linked from the Division's "Understanding Black Bears" Curriculum webpage,

Teachers and students will find a vibrant assortment of FREE multimedia bear education resources on the site that is rich with a wide range of movies, images and text that cover almost every aspect of understanding and living with black bears. The site also offers a specialized educational impact for teachers and students with the downloadable Understanding Black Bears Curriculum.
The free classroom curriculum is a self-contained computer program that was developed by educators exclusively for use in K-8 classrooms. It's full of quizzes, puzzles, computer games, special bear movies and tons of interactive learning within 29 lesson activities. In just minutes, students and teachers can access an entire year's worth of exciting black bear education. The teacher's section of the program contains 29 Lesson Activities and their related classroom support materials for teaching the program.
The new bear education website is part of the DEP's continuing effort to educate New Jersey residents about co-existing with black bears. Black bears have been sighted throughout the State and this site is an important addition to the public education component of the DEP's science based Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy, which also includes research, monitoring, nuisance black bear response, feeding ban enforcement and black bear population management.
