Here is a PDF file of the manual on changing the oil on that motor. I drain mine through the drain plug not sucking it out. Also if you can't find a Yamaha oil filter there is a Mercury filter that is the same filter. I use the Merc filter with no problem.  Any good car oil is fine and you will find more on that in the PDF. If you would like a full copy of this manual send me a PM with your email address.

Ross,
Here is a post from The Hull Truth.  http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=145358&posts=5

I bought the equipment needed from Andy at SIM.  You can also get the oil and filter from them.  Good people to deal with.

If anyone needs to borrow the pump, I have it.  I also have the filter wrench, cap type, not the strap type.  This works like a socket. It fits over the end of the filter and you turn it off with a ratchet.  There is not a whole lot of room to work a strap type wrench for the oil filter.

You can purchase all of the equipment needed and the oil and filter for what it would cost to have the service performed by a marine mechanic.  Then your only future purchase would be the oil and filter.  That would come to about a hundred dollar saving per oil/filter change.
