2014 project has begun
« on: January 01, 2014, 09:19:53 PM »
Took a ride down to the boat today. Pumped out the fuel in my three tanks. Getting the tanks removed and probably only replace the center tank. Center tank = 126 gallons, two side tanks = 47 gallons each. No need to lug around all that extra weight when I typically only use 20-30 gallons a trip. Mud hole trips go for about 30-50 gallons. 126 gallons plenty enough.

Side view of area with deck removed, center tank slightly raised.

Not as bad as I though it would be after 19-20 years of use.

Next step is to remove the tanks. Hopefully next week after the weather moves out.

Will try to get down to update the project pics as it goes along.

Nice project Joe,  I hope the snow coming today does not delay you too long.   Give me a shout if I can be of any assistance. t^

The empty spaces left from eliminating those saddle tanks could make for some nice fish boxes.

And just think; with all the fish under the deck, there will be a lot of room for chairs! clp

I just did the same thing on my father in laws boat and used JpL or something like that they were in barnagate and have a great turnaround. Also got thick rubber strips for the bottom and foam filled in the gaps so the tank doesn't move.

Not a bad time to throw in some underwater led lights or drag in some wires for future use.

Good Luck with your project Joe.
I removed and replaced fuel tanks on another boat some years back and used a well known business in Toms River area.
If you need any help just PM me or call my cell. Be safe, AJ
