The weekend will be one of the nicer ones in a while, but water conditions will be mixed. Saturday will be dry for almost the entire state, except for Northern/Northwestern NJ. These areas could see some scattered or isolated snow and rain showers while the rest of the state will see sun mixed with clouds. Temperatures will be in the 60’s with upper 50’s across the north. Overnight lows will be in the 20’s and 30’s. Sunday will see a passing cold front, with a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures in the 40’s, with overnight lows in the teens to 30’s. Both days will see some gusty winds possible. Water conditions will be cautious on Saturday, improving for Sunday and then worsening by Sunday Night for inshore waters. Offshore waters will be cautious to hazardous all weekend. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious Saturday and good to ok on Sunday before worsening for Sunday Night. Water temperatures are warming slowly, with inshore waters into the upper 30’s and low 40’s with offshore waters in the mid 40’s. UV Index will be Moderate at 3-4/15.
A high pressure system over the Carolina will ease offshore on Friday. A low pressure system is then forecast to track just to the north Saturday, with a cold front moving through around midday. A secondary cold front will then move through on Sunday. A strong Arctic High Pressure System will build across the Plains Sunday, then move to the Great Lakes Monday and New England on Tuesday. A low pressure system developing in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico early Tuesday is forecast to move northeastward and track east of the region later Tuesday into Wednesday. A high pressure system then will build into the Eastern Seaboard for Wednesday Night and Thursday.
Next week will start off dry on Monday with precipitation moving in for Tuesday and Wednesday. This precipitation will come from a potential coastal low/nor’easter with chances of snow. If not snow, more than an inch of rain is possible. Track and intensity is still too early to call for this system, but cold air will be likely in place and the pattern is still favorable for development. Any rain/snow will move out late Wednesday and clear for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will range from the 20’s to 40’s for highs and lows in the teens to 30’s. Water conditions will vary all week, depending on the system. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious to hazardous through midweek.
