WTB - 2 Tuna Spinning Setups

I am looking to get my hands on 2 entry level tuna spinning outfits. I was thinking along to he lines of a Saragossa and good matched rod. I don't want to break the bank but, want something that will be ok for the few times I might actually make it out each year.

I think the Gosas are a good idea. Don't think you'll find much better in that price range.

What are you mostly going to use these outfits for?  Jigging?  Plugging?  Pitching baits?  General purpose?

Once you figure that out I would go right to the man and see what Capt Rich recommends.   I know he is on the Black Hole team now. And they can get a bit pricey. But maybe you can find a rod with similar characteristics in a Shimano Terez or a Stingo rod.

I have talked to Rich. The Blackhole's seem sweet. They need to be multi-role because of budget. I was hoping to find someone who is upgrading.

Which Travela? It seems there are some other reels out there with higher drag and more line capacity than the Gossa 10,000. But, they have a great review and reputation.

If you don't like the Sargosas, the Canyon DJR6500 might fit your needs.  Not sure what other reels in the $300 range you are talking about that would be better than these two.

Didn't say I didn't like them. I had seen a Penn something or other which seemed to have much more line capability and had good drag. I am sure if it was so great people would be eating them up. I didn't like a few of the reviews on the Canyon.

If you're looking to spend under $300, maybe take a look at the Spheros.  Under $200?  See if you can find a couple of the old USA made 850SS reels.  They are tanks.  I wouldn't recommend any other Penn spinner unless it's the Torque (which will run you about $700).
