Headed for the Reach after leaving our slip at Atlantic Highlands Marina about 7:30 this morning. Anchored up away from the party boats off Keansburg and broke out the clams, while jigging metal until the Bunker arrived. After snagging a couple Bunker I live lined one while Tom did the chunk style. We gave it an hour before heading to the Knoll to give that area a try, having the place nearly all to ourselves.
The next move was to the North side of North Beach, here surrounded by Bunker schools, started giving up two short Stripers for me while Tom was busy with the Bluefish.Around Noon we headed in stopping to talk to a pin hooker that we knew near #1 Can. He said Fluke fishing was good here as he started to fill a large cooler while hitting many snags from all the fish trap lines which slowed him down a bit. There seems to be a lot more fish traps this year which will be a big problem when the Fluke season opens soon. Pete
