Expected to spend the day doing continuing to prep my dad's boat for the launch this week. Mechanic had other ideas, luckily I had a light rod in the car, went out on the river for the tide in the afternoon. Nothing from crystal point marina to the mouth of the canal. Went up by the 35 bridge, caught a few 2-4lb Blues. Then the Blues started to crash some bait on the surface, thought it was going to break open but it didn't happen. Went on east side of railroad bridge for a few casts. Caught 1 Blue about 7-8lbs. Did not fight like a bluefish until I got him boat side. On way back in, stopped at mouth of canal and got 2 short fluke. Water east of mouth of canal was super clear, could see bottom in most spots.
Sounded like the Bassing was a bit on slow side, heard many boats saying they got 1 or 2. Looking forward to getting out in ocean this weekend/next week.
