Fluke rods vary by a few factors.
Jigging Bucktails, dragging bait, amount of weight needed to hold bottom. "water depth and current "
I have a nice light STAR ROD that I use for conditions up to 6 ounces with a Shimano Corvalus 300 reel . The reels not exspensive but never a problem. I own 3 of those.
For deeper water and stronger current it's the ST.Croix Premier paired with a Penn international 975 Lever Drag.
These setups are used for all kinds of fishing not strictly Fluking.
I really like Shimano reels and they have a great customer service dept.
Good luck and have a great season.
