More Stripers 10/30
« on: October 30, 2007, 07:41:26 PM »
Talked my dad into fishing for a few hours this afternoon......I picked up where I left off. We did some trolling with shad rig's again. I know some guy's hate trolling wire, but it was the ticket for us today...I was pulling four arm shad rigs (green) with 150' of wire with a 10' shock leader,my trailer hook is set back 3.5'........I also add willow leaves to the arm via a swivel affixed to the arm between the center and the rig lock (that small loop you see). I am sure the added vibration and shine helps to attract the fish.
The blue fish found their way into the mix and that will make short work of any shad bodies.
We had some doubles both striper's and blues.....A great day on the water for a few hours. I made a call to Nick (Pktaske) and he was just getting off the water as I was headed out........We trolled east of the Sandy Hook Channel making our way north the water today was in the upper 50's. Not many bird's working, but lots of fish on the fish finder.
         Good luck....Bigger fish today!

Sounds like a great day! t^

Did you try jigging any of the fish you were reading or did you just stay with trolling all day?

Thanks,
Bob

Awesome catch and post, Thanks t^
A good day of fishing is better than a bad day of fishing. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. That means work sucks!
