Sat Morn I had Cashin and friends. We pulled out of Keyport at high tide and trolled around the 18 can area and caught bluefish. Made a move outside Sandy Hook for more blues and a short Striper. Got a call on a bite off the Navy pier and head over to join the party. The Blues were spitting up peanut bunker. Soon after it got crowded. Capt.Carl and Capt.Don were in the area Capt.Chad too,
We trolled and jigged up more blues, nothing on Bunker or eels. Called it a day at low tide when the bight died. No Keeper Stripers just shorts. I saw Capt.Carl at the marina "I think he was admiring my docking skills"
Sunday I had Paule
, Jersey Joe, Carl and Bob S. I heard of good action in the back bay Saturday so we head back and found the mother load of Bunker. We filled the live well and livelined by the bridges with eels and Bunker. No good, stopped mid bay for another try on some marks with no takers. Hit up the Navy pier where yesterday was nuts and nothing doing. . Saw Capt.Carl in the Bullet cruising around and spoke to Dan on the Reel McCoy. We moved to the hook tip and around the outside and started crushing short Stripers with a giant blues mixed in on Black/White shad 9ers rigs. Nothing on chartreuse shads or the spoon.
So we ended the day with a ton of short Stripers released and big Blues which we kept one for
. Very nice weather today and always fun fishing with Paule and crew.
