A wet weekend with hazardous water conditions. Rain will move in Friday afternoon/evening and remain for most of the weekend, not clearing out until Sunday Night. Saturday will have rain, while Sunday will have chances of rain and showers. Areas in Northern NJ could see a mix of wintry precipitation also. With a coastal low/Nor’Easter moving up the coast, the beginning of the week will be wet as well. More than 2 inches of rain are possible, which could lead to river and inland flooding. Coastal involvements could bring coastal flooding as well. Highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s with lows in the 20’s to 40’s. Water conditions will be good most of Saturday. By Saturday Afternoon conditions will begin deteriorating and by Saturday Night Gale Force Winds will make hazardous water conditions with winds to 40 knots and seas 4-8 feet inshore and 8-10 feet offshore. Sunday will continue with hazardous to cautious conditions with Gale Force winds. Winds will subside some on Sunday Night, however water conditions will not likely improve until some point at the middle to end of next week. Surf and beach conditions will be ok on Saturday becoming cautious, bordering on hazardous by Saturday Night; Gale Force winds, rough and dangerous surf with wave heights from 3-5 feet upwards to as high as 10 feet are possible by Sunday. Water temperatures are in the 40’s and 50’s. UV Index is Low at 0-2/15.
High pressure over New England will move offshore on Friday. A low pressure system in the lower Missouri Valley will move east through the Central Appalachians on Saturday and into the DELMARVA on Saturday Night and offshore on Sunday. Strong high pressure will move across Southeastern Canada on Sunday and into the Canadian Maritimes on Monday. A low pressure system will develop east of North Carolina on Monday and then pass near Cape Cod on Tuesday. High pressure then builds slowly into the Eastern US for the rest of the week.
Next week will start off wet as a Nor’Easter moves up the coast. Right now, it looks like rain (as opposed to snow), with possible river and coastal flooding. Rain will taper off on Tuesday and move out by Wednesday. Midweek, through the end of the week look dry right now. Highs will be in the 40’s with overnight lows in the 20’s and 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious to hazardous for most of the week.
Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
