Radar Mounting Question..
« on: April 08, 2015, 06:42:27 PM »
I noticed some boats have their Radar dome mounted behind the anchor light on the T-top.  Others have the light mounted on a light pole attached to the mounting bracket.

Question.. Does the light interfere with the performance of the radar if it is in front of the radar dome?

If i put the Radar Dome on a 6" mounting bracket, I am afraid it will be too high to tow under bridges.

Any advice on this?  or tips?

I was told the light post does not interfere with radar. I have not received any fuzz or interference with mine. It is mounted in front of the light.

Be mindful if you elevate your radar and not your light it may be possible that the light is not seen from all directions. I have seen some people mount the light to the top of the dome... Not sure I would though.

yeah.. I was hoping it wouldn't interfere.. Not having to move the light makes life a whole lot easier..

Now.. hoping there is something to mount the bracket into..

Hey Nick.. Here's a pic of the way it was rigged up on Fluka.. the light was stacked above GPS/Sirrius wx. antenna.. but I believe the same type of mount can be used just for the light.. I never noticed any interference at all.. but mounting it at the rear of the dome insures if you do get a blind spot, it would be dead astern... chrz

I had mine in front of the light and never had a problem.
