A rollercoaster of a week for weather and water conditions. A very typical week during season change, maybe more resembling March, but it is what it is. Monday Day will be sunny and dry with highs in the low 70’s inland, but around 10 degrees colder along the water due to the cold ocean influences, around the low 60’s. Monday later in the day will have increasing clouds into the overnight and chances of showers moving in. Tuesday will have chances of showers during the day with increased cloud cover, clearing for Tuesday Night. Highs on Tuesday will be in the 50’s and 60’s with overnight lows in the 30’s and 40’s. Wednesday will be dry and sunny with highs in the 50’s and 60’s again and overnight lows in the 30’s and 40’s. Thursday Day will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds, with clouds increasing into the overnight and chances of showers returning for night. Friday will have chances of showers all day into Saturday. Highs will be in the 50’s and 60’s on Thursday and Friday with overnight lows in the 40’s and 50’s. Shower chances look to be mostly scattered and widely scattered except for Tuesday. Tuesday looks to be more widespread and organized to widely scattered. Water conditions are all over the place this week as well. Good on Monday Morning becoming cautious by Monday Afternoon and mostly continuing for Tuesday and Wednesday. Some places will see borderline conditions mixed in, but generally cautious conditions will be in place, except for bays. Thursday and Friday will see mostly borderline conditions for seas and visibility, however offshore waters look cautious on Thursday and bays will be good both days. Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok with anywhere from 1-3 to 3-5 feet this week, echoing water conditions with winds and seas. Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s with the Delaware Bay seeing some 50’s. UV Index will range from Low to High at 1-7/15.

High pressure east of NJ will move further out to sea on Sunday Night. A cold front will cross the area on Tuesday Morning. Low pressure will form on the departing front east of the DELMARVA late on Tuesday. High pressure builds over the Northeast during midweek. Low pressure and another cold front organize over the Northeast on Friday into Saturday. Then, high pressure follows for Sunday.

So, for the weekend, Saturday Day will have some chances of showers, clearing out for Saturday Night and Sunday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the 60’s inland and 50’s along the coast with overnight lows in the 40’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be good on Saturday and cautious to hazardous on Sunday with gusty winds to 30 knots and building seas.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Anyone interested in Extended Range Tropical Weather forecasts, the University of Colorado has released their forecast for the 2015 season. With a moderate El Nino, tropical activity is forecast to be below average. However this does not remove all of the risk from tropical weather, these forecasts can be very untrustworthy and it only takes 1 storm to cause problems (as we have seen in the past).
