Put the boat in the water about two weeks ago. However, due to the weather and family obligations, Irish Ayes stayed tied to the dock.
Today, I was finally able to get out. Had Andy and Naked Eddie on board and we set sail at 8am. Turned left out of the inlet and started looking for signs of life. Did not bring the trolling gear today as it was my shake down cruise and I wanted to put the boat thru it's paces.
Made it all the way to Long Branch before I found some marks on the screen. Nothing great, but marks none the less. Picked a couple of blues with jigs. Continued north and eventually go to the rocks. More jigs, more blues.
Fishin Dude Darren made an appearance and we chatted for a few minute before he steamed off to the south.
It was an okay day on the water. The shake down went pretty smooth with only a few minor issues that I will have to deal with.
Brought back four blues as Andy has a neighbor who likes them (yuck) and I later passed two off to Big Dave. Released several more to fight another day.
And so the season begins...
