Need ideas
« on: November 11, 2007, 12:25:46 PM »
I'm going out tommorrow morning for stripers from the ahmm and wanted some ideas on fishing techniques. Please help. I am going to pass on the eels. I guess I could anchor up on the rips and clam but i was hoping to have a little more fun.  So please tell me what you would or are going to do tommorrow. And if you want to tell me any secret spots I won't mind :P   thanks in advance.

You could try the old "run-and-gun" chasing birds and jigging.
How about getting away from the crowd,  chunking fresh bunker. No one (or hardly anyone) chunks in the fall. Grant it, the skates may be a problem.  North side of the Knoll right on the edge  t^
  Good luck.

You wont make too many friends if you anchor in the rips while everyone else is drifting the rips.

I'd drift eels along the channel edges and on top of the Knoll while keeping any eye out for any bird activity.

I fish rariton bay area...  skolmann,, I'm not one of those guys. I never anchor up at night and during the day I have a nice little spot off to the side close to shore.
I was hoping not to run up and down the shore because of gas but I will probably do that first early morning.
I do think bunker chunks is a way to go but I never really did it before and dont know where to do it.  Any ideas?

Hi MakoKeith,

I just read GregB's report. That should help a lot.

If you are looking for the excitement, do the jigging.  Doesn't get much better than that.  There are a lot of bluefish out there right now with some bass mixed in.  Never know what one will wind up on the end if your line.  t^
If you want the 'catching', trolling would be the ticket.  Knock downs every five minutes or less today.  That was near the Manasquan Inlet, but the blues should be all over the place.

Good luck with whatever method you try.   t^

From the reports I've been reading, the jig bite was alittle off today as compared to Thursday & Friday. Still alot of Yahoos running through pods of fish etc.

Maybe they'll be less baot traffic tomorrow and the jig bite will turn on again.
