Hit the Axel Carlson Saturday morning with my favorite fishing partner, my wife Jean.
Picked a bunch of Fluke mostly short. But managed keepers around 20", nothing really big. Most fish hit the chartruse Gulp/Mackerel strip. Moved to some of the rock piles to see if we could pick some Seabass before the Obama's people shut it down at the end of
the month. Put 4 keepers in the box real quick, again, Mackerel strips were the hot bait.
Tested out the new VHF radio, I replaced the old one, the power/volume knob was loose and misbehaving, so better safe than sorry. Works better than the old one. I think due to me eliminating the VHF / FM splitter on the antenna wire and giving each radio its own antenna. I've now got longer range.
I ran the alternative "Currently Political Incorrect" flag instead of the usual Stars and Stripes. It was very well received. I got salutes from boats going down the river, from guys fishing from shore in the inlet, other boats on the reef, and even had two boats come close by and take photos of the boat. ( so if you see a photo somewhere on the web of an old fat guy with a can in one hand, fishing pole in the other, showing some Southern Pride, its probably me.
