Avet Reel Self-Servicing
« on: August 11, 2015, 09:29:06 PM »
If your doing your own service on an avet, the drag plate is glued to the spool,,, do not try to remove it thinking its corroded or something.

Not knowing its effing glued, I Just split the drag in two on SeaChelles reel and will need to be shipped back to avet to be repaired. Unless they sell me a new drag and I can figure out how to remove the old half with the adhesive that is still glued to the spool.

I mean WTF, rgmn why glue the darn thing, makes no sense. I think the exception is the raptors, they may be clipped in.
All your tuna's are belong to me

Had to replace a bearing in my Avet after 1 season. Guess what? Bearings are not covered by the warranty. Picked up a new bearing at --------- here in Brick, put it in myself, no problems since. The drag is holding up just fine, no need for that hassle yet.
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

Yeah, Avet bearings are terrible.  Should probably upgrade to a better after-market brand when the stock bearings corrode.
