As I mentioned in another post, we made our annual trip to Wildwood last week for the Fireman's Convention. This year we took the boat with us.
First night down there I hit a local dock for bait and some fishing. LOADED up on the Pnutz with the cast net. They were so thick I couldn't even work a swimmer without snagging them. Had something sizable blowing up on them, but couldn't get a bite.
Next morning I launched from the North Wildwood municipal ramp with a friend who has never fished.....didn't even know how to operate a spinning reel. We took a nice cruise out thru the back bays and drifted the Hereford Inlet. 5 minutes into the first drift, he brings up a 16in fluke. For the next 4 hours we had steady action from short fluke, dogfish, seabass and blues. Ended the day with 2 fluke in the box at 18 & 19.5in.
Next day Becky and I went back out to the same spot with the same tide and same wind. Not a single bite. Packed in and played with snapper blues on the way in.
Our friend was very excited that he caught and caught such variety on his first outing.
