Opening day of Tog fishing a bust
« on: November 15, 2007, 05:48:06 PM »
Wanted to get our first official tog trip in today, being that it was opening day for a higher limit.

Me, BobG and Dave C drove down and looked at the ocean, didn't appear too bad.  Bell buoy outside of Shark River inlet was bouncing a bit but there were no white caps on the water.  Wind was from the SW.

Drove to the boat, jumped on, fired up the Yammie and cast off the lines.  Broke the inlet and found ourselves in every bit of five footers.  Turned the boat around after passing the sand bar that is building up outside the inlet and headed back in.  Docked the boat, quick rinse down of the salt water and back home by 10am.

Tomorrow doesn't look any better.

It's amazing how big those waves look and how small the boat feels when you're in it. I'm gonna venture even tho no fishing still better than work.... I'm still here but trying to get out....
Catch 'em up next time, can't stay sh!tty forever... t^

It seems like things will be quieting down soon  but getting colder.

Good luck on the trip with Capt Mike those who are going.

Happy Catching

That's what I'm hoping for Reel Class.  Got a trip together for Saturday.  I'm figuring it will settle down by then.  But who knows what the bottom will be like.  Still worth a shot.   t^
