penn mariner rods

i just picked up a 20-50 class hvy boat rod what would be the sinker limit was thinking of doing off shore wreck fishing with it would this rod handle cod and giant sea bass fishing i know they use 16 oz jigs for polack and cod
any help would be apreciated it has a 309 reel

Sinker or lure weight ,is usually written on the rod near the line weight and rod strength .

it only list line weight up to 50 lb im going to spool it with 30lb Cajun i have 20 lb on a shamano bait runner and like the line got it from walmart on line $78 for the combo rod seems nice and strong looks like 12 oz or bigger no problem and never had a 309 but most penn conventional reels are good

I have some 309s on hvy trollers, never had any trouble with them, whipped everything they hooked.

You will do fine with 8-12 oz if the rod can handle it.
