The unsettled and wet weather continues with mixed water conditions this week. Showers and rain chances will continue for the bulk of the week, with only Friday the dry day. Monday through Thursday will see some sun mixed in, but the majority of the days will be cloudy. Showers will be scattered to widely scattered, with more widespread rain on Monday Night, Tuesday Day, and Wednesday Night. Upwards of 2 inches of precipitation will be possible across the state. Northern and western parts of the state could even see some sleet or a wintry mix of precipitation on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Sussex and Warren Counties have a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Monday 6PM through Tuesday 11Am for sleet and snow with possible accumulations to an inch or so. Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, and Middlesex Counties have a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Monday Night into Tuesday Morning for fog and wintry precipitation possibilities. Fog will be possible statewide Sunday Night into Monday Morning. As for temperatures, it will be another roller coaster ride. Colder air will move in Sunday Night with a passing cold front, then a lifting warm front will cross the region, followed by another cold front at the end of the week brining some much colder air to start the new year. Temperatures will range from the 30’s to the upper 60’s for highs.  Northern areas will see the colder lows and southern areas the higher lows. Parts of extreme Southern NJ may see near 70’s on Tuesday. Lows will range from the 20’s to 50’s. Monday Nights lows will be just below the daily highs, as the warm front moves in causing temperatures to rise during the overnight. Humidity will be moderate to high again this week both from the warm front and precipitation possibilities. Water conditions will start off cautious to hazardous for Monday and Tuesday for all waters. Both days will have Small Craft Advisories and Gale Watches have been issued for the possibility of gale force winds and Gale Warnings. Winds will gust to 35 knots with seas to 8 feet inshore and 10 feet midshore to offshore. Wednesday will have good conditions for rivers and bays with cautious conditions during the day and borderline to good conditions at night for inshore waters. Midshore to offshore waters will have cautious conditions on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will have good conditions for Thursday and most areas also good conditions on Friday. Inshore ocean waters will be borderline to cautious on Thursday and Friday. Midhore to offshore will have borderline to cautious conditions on Thursday and cautious conditions on Friday. All of the models are hinting at deteriorating condition on Friday and remaining for the weekend. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, improving for Thursday and Friday. Winds will gust to 35 knots on Monday and Tuesday, then 20-25 knots on Wednesday with wave heights ranging from 3-9 feet for all three days. Thursday and Friday will have wave heights back to 1-3 feet. Water temperatures have warmed with all waters in the low to mid 50’s. UV Index will be Low at 0-2/15.
Have a safe, healthy and Happy New Year! Thanks for reading…

Monday Weather Update & Winter Weather Advisories
« Reply #1 on: December 28, 2015, 04:08:17 PM »
Scattered showers continue across the state. There are Gale Warnings posted from Little Egg Inlet north, along the coast of Long Island, east into Offshore waters and for all bays including New York Harbor and Raritan Bay. Small Craft Advisories extend south from Little Egg Inlet including the Delaware Bay and Delaware River.

Showers will become more widespread into the evening and then overnight. Some areas will see wintry precipitation in the form of sleet, snow, and even freezing rain. Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for Sussex, Morris, Warren, Bergen, and Passaic Counties. These counties could see light accumulations as well as ice accretion. Wintry precipitation is possible in other counties, as well, especially areas where temperatures near or drop below freezing tonight. Wintry precipitation will make roads and surfaces slippery and could make travel hazardous.
