Another unsettled week bringing some rain and even snow showers as well as mostly cautious to hazardous water conditions. Monday will start off sunny with increasing clouds throughout the day and into the night. It will be breezy to windy as well. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring rain and/or snow showers. Snow showers will remain to western and northern parts of the state and any accumulations look to be 1 inch or less. This could change and I will update any changes. Either way, unless something major changes, this is just showers at the most. Both days will also have breezy to gusty winds, at times. Thursday and Friday will be dry again, with a mix of sun and clouds. Cold air will continue, with highs in the 30’s and 40’s with overnight lows in the teens to 30’s. Water conditions will be greatly affected by the moving boundaries and front. Water conditions will be cautious to hazardous through midweek, becoming cautious to borderline for the end of the week, mainly due to elevated seas. Winds will gust to 35 knots and seas will push 8 feet inshore and 10-15 feet midshore to offshore. Some rivers and bays will have pockets of good conditions on Thursday and Friday. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious for Monday through Wednesday with seas to 8 feet possible and gusty winds to 35 knots. Conditions will improve for Thursday and Friday for good to ok conditions on the beach. Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s and 50’s. UV Index will be Low at 0-2/15.

A strong area of low pressure will continue to track across Southeastern Canada Sunday Night, with an associated strong cold front sweeping offshore this evening. High pressure is then expected to influence the weather later Monday and Monday Night. A cold front should arrive Tuesday Evening followed by another area of high pressure for Wednesday into Thursday. Another cold front may arrive in the region late in the week, then a broad low pressure area approaches from the west and south which should influence the weather for the weekend.

The weekend will likely be influenced by low pressure bringing precipitation to the area. Most areas will see rain, but snow is possible in some areas. Highs will be in the 30’s and 40’s with overnight lows in the 20’s and 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious to hazardous.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Re: Monday Update on Tuesday "Snow"
« Reply #1 on: January 11, 2016, 05:11:47 PM »
Here is an update with graphics for potential "snow" on Tuesday into Wednesday. As previously stated, some areas could see a coating to an inch of snow. Some areas will not see any accumulation and coastal areas could not even see any snow. Worst case scenario is an inch of snow across northwestern and some northern parts of the state. Scattered precipitation will fall across the state tomorrow throughout the day/evening/overnight. North and west of the I-95 Corridor will see scattered snow showers, while south and east will see mainly rain showers, possibly a wintry mix. Surfaces will become slippery and ice is possible as well, when and where temperatures drop below freezing.

Be safe!!

Some slight changes to the snow forecast for Tuesday into Wednesday. Some very northern and northwestern areas could see 1-2 inches of accumulating snow. Most of the areas of affected are north and west of the state, but the possibility of an inch and upwards of 2 inches, is possible into the far northern reaches of the state.
